Current Projects
Social Impact Internship Programme
Northstar’s Social Impact Internship Project connects university students from Europe and North America with vetted NGOs across Southeast Asia. We draw on our established networks in both regions to match students with organisations actively seeking interns, giving universities a reliable way of offering career development, and giving students a grounded understanding of the region. Many NGOs operate with limited budgets that make it difficult to fill important roles, and student placements allow them to bring in capable support that would otherwise be impossible, providing NGOs with immediate capacity as well as lasting intercultural connections that strengthen the NGO’s ties to the wider international community.
Fundraising Initiatives
Northstar works directly with NGOs in Cambodia to strengthen their fundraising capacity, from identifying and approaching international donors to structuring proposals that meet the expectations of foreign funders. As traditional government funding for the sector continues to shift, we help local organisations build the relationships and systems needed to secure the private and philanthropic support increasingly required to sustain their work.
Humanitarian Research Data Programme
Northstar delivers rigorous participatory action research to NGOs, enabling them to better understand and meet the needs of their communities. We conduct grounded research at a local level, and use our findings to develop support strategies, hold training sessions, and produce concrete policy recommendations for our partner NGOs and other stakeholders.
WASH Development
Northstar conducts research and data analysis on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), optimising the methodological implementation of water distribution infrastructure and other WASH projects in Southeast Asia. We also provide risk management and monitoring & evaluation services to local networks and INGOs in the WASH sector.
